Morgan remembers whenever she was first victimized for her hair. She was in middle school when she was made fun of for having leg hair when she was wearing shorts. That’s when social norms caught up to her and she asked her mother if she could shave.
That experience prompted her to shave her legs and armpits at a very young age, claiming that it helped her feel more beautiful.
Women’s lack of hair has become such a strong beauty standard that when Morgan first stopped shaving, she had little kids at her work coming and ask her why she had leg hair.
The very fact made her realize just how these kids were being raised with gender and social norms at such a young age.
